how to set and achieve goals

I’m a big believer that setting goals is significant towards a healthy mind-set and positive life. I think goals should be set for different aspects of your life, whether it be something towards your career, fitness or general lifestyle.

Here are my top-tips for setting, and more importantly, achieving those goals.

Don’t over think it

Don’t think anything is too small or too big, if you thought of it, if you want to achieve it, you can do it! I set goals as small as reading a book more regularly, to achieving an Ironman (before I had even sat on a bike before!). Don’t limit yourself to anything… the likelihood is that those smaller goals are actually harder to achieve then the big ones!

Write them down

This may seem totally irrelevant but for me it really finalises and makes my goal(s) seem real once I’ve written them down. I feel like once they’re on paper, there’s no turning back! I also find it valuable to keep note a long the way, record how I am doing in working towards those goals.

Be proactive

There’s no point deciding a goal if you don’t take the steps to move towards it. If it’s to finish a marathon, then go enter one! If it’s to read more, buy your books, plan which days/times you are going to be reading etc.

Nobody is going to achieve your goals for you, it’s up to you to go out and make it happen.

Just go for it

Don’t wait for Monday, the New Year, the weather, for your friend to start with you… stop making excuses and go make yourself proud! Whenever you loose focus or motivation, remember how much and why you want it!
