Monday
Biked my first 100 miler since Ironman UK yesterday… feel surprisingly great! My legs actually feel fresher than they have in months… weird! The plan is a 15 minute recovery spin, I did a 20 minute upper body and core gym session and a 10 minute spin…
Tuesday
Legs feel a tad heavier now! The plan is an hour swim – a strength session with paddles and a fast pace (the worst kind!). Felt pretty tired doing this and probably didn’t go as fast as I should have/could have. Got it done though which is something.
An hour run… it said club session but I definitely relayed some bad information because there was no club session, and even if there was I probably wouldn’t have made it! I did an hour on the trails instead… I was painfully slow, and in pain. Stupid Soleous is giving me bother!
Wednesday
YAY for a gym day! Loved this session, felt very motivated and did some challenging core work and handstand practice, obvs. I was also pretty sensible and did actual beneficial stuff for triathlon… single leg squats, single leg deadlifts. Pull ups, back squats, some plyos…
1:40hr on the turbo…. Pretty tough session too! I did it and worked hard, found some energy from somewhere!
Thursday
You know when you wake up feeling like you’ve been hit by a bus? That’s me today. I over-slept, was very un-motivated for my hour long technique session in the pool, and called it a day after about 40 minutes….
1.30 run to do – did this on the trails in the pouring rain, not the best idea!! I was honestly like a tortoise in peanut butter, soleous still sore, legs felt heavy, but I weirdly enjoyed it… enjoyed finishing it even more though!
Friday
Rest day except I sort of booked a private gymnastics lesson (first one ever) and spent an hour doing handstands which is actually v v exhausting, who knew! Not the most sensible way to spend a rest day, but it was brilliant!
Saturday
WOW at how sore I am from handstands! My traps are so sore, and one hamstring – the leg I kicked up from!
My training today is 1.45 hours in the pool…. Yeah that’s not a typo… 1.45 hours! I have never spent that long in a pool (or even a lake) ever!
Surprisingly it wasn’t too bad, but I was definitely slower than I expect my coach wanted me to do the session!
Sunday
75 miles on the bike followed by a 40 min run! I picked up my new road bike yesterday (Langma Pro disk) – it was B E A U T I F U L to ride! I did struggle to motivate myself to go do this session on my own; I have felt pretty tired all week!
Head wind all the way for the ride too… tough day, tough week!
Em x
Great training week! What are you training for at the moment?
Ironman Zurich on 29th July 🙂 x
